BATON ROUGE, La (press release) – LSU Museum of Art in Baton Rouge has announced upcoming events for the next year.
EXHIBITION SCHEDULE FOR THE LSU MUSEUM OF ART
Cherished: The Art of Clementine Hunter
July 11–Oct. 13
A showcase of work by Clementine Hunter–including paintings and objects from the collections of the LSU Museum of Art, the LSU Rural Life Museum, the Alexandria Museum of Art, private collectors, and Hunter’s descendants.
In a New Light: American Impressionism 1870–1940,
Works from the Bank of America Collection
Aug. 22–Nov. 17
A survey of American Impressionism featuring over 100 paintings by a diverse group of more than 75 artists, tracing the development of Impressionism in the United States, a uniquely American style. Featured artists include Childe Hassam, George Inness, Thomas Moran, John Sloan, Ernest Lawson, and Lilla Cabot Perry. This exhibition is made possible through the Bank of America Art in our Communities program.

Rembrandt, Goya, and Dürer: The Marvel of Old Masters
Oct. 31, 2024–Feb. 2, 2025
A collection of over one hundred original etchings, engravings, and woodblocks by some of Europe’s most renowned early printmakers, drawn from the Park West Foundation.
A Bayou State of Mind
Dec. 12, 2024–March 30, 2025
A collection of works exploring how artists have drawn inspiration from the Louisiana Landscape over the past 100 years. In addition to ceramics, prints, and photography by many of the South’s preeminent artists, the exhibition showcases George Rodrigue’s Bayou series, a collection of forty early paintings in his distinctive Cajun style, including the first depiction of the Blue Dog, Tiffany.

Golden Legacy: Original Art from 80 Years of Golden Books
Feb. 27–May 25, 2025
Original gouache and watercolor illustrations featuring iconic characters from Golden Book favorites such as Tawney Scrawny Lion, Little Red Riding Hood, The Great Big Fire Engine Book, and The Poky Little Puppy, drawn from the collection of the National Center for Children’s Illustrated Literature.
In Focus: Artwork by LSU Faculty
April 24–Aug. 3, 2025
In honor of the LSU Museum of Art’s twentieth anniversary in the Shaw Center for the Arts, the Museum showcases the multifaceted talent of tenure and tenure-track professors from the University’s School of Art in the College of Art and Design. Featuring eighteen artists, works range in media, including examples of photography, printmaking, digital art, and collage.
