Alex Winter FĂȘte

When: Dec. 4 – 6

Where: Downtown Alexandria

Alex Winter FĂȘte brings festive entertainment, family activities, live music, delicious food and ice skating to Downtown Alexandria. Join the community for a weekend filled with cheer and unforgettable winter fun.

Holiday Light Safari

When: Dec. 5, 6, 12, 13, 19, 20, 22, 23, 26 & 27, 5:30 – 9 p.m.

Where: Alexandria Zoo, 3016 Masonic Dr.

Tickets: Adult & Teen $12 | Child (Ages 2-12) $10

Enjoy dazzling lights, the Holiday Train Ride, a visit with Santa, Atwood’s Merry Creations for cookies and crafts and more.

Christmas Extravaganza Vendor Market

When: Dec. 6, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Where: Pineville Park Baptist Church

Free admission for everyone, and the first 100 shoppers receive a free gift. The extravaganza is an inside vendor market. Food and drink proceeds will benefit the Pineville Park Youth Ministry.

A Worldwide Yuletide Concert

When: Dec. 7, 2 – 4:30 p.m.

Where: Coughlin-Saunders Performing Arts Center, 202 3rd St., Alexandria, La

The Rapids Symphony Orchestra presents its annual holiday concert, highlighting musical traditions from around the globe.

Christmas in the Country

When: Dec. 7, 4:30 – 7:30 p.m.

Where: First Baptist Church Lecompte, 2002 Water St., Lecompte, La

A petting zoo, outdoor games, live music, coffee, hot chocolate, hot dogs, funnel cakes, carriage rides and more at no cost. Bring your family and enjoy a simpler way of celebrating Christmas in the country.

Live Nativity Drive-Thru

When: Dec. 7, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.

Where: First United Methodist Church Alexandria, 2727 Jackson St.

The annual live nativity returns as a drive-thru experience encircling the Jackson Street church facility. This event celebrates the birth of Christ and features Bethlehem scenes in the parking lot, with a cast of adult and youth church members, along with live animals. Vehicles will enter via Jackson Street and exit onto North City Park Boulevard. The event is free and open to the public. Visitors are asked to dim headlights and drive slowly through the display.

City of Pineville Christmas Parade

When: Dec. 12, 7 – 9 p.m.

Where: Pineville Main Street

The parade will start at the Pineville Riverfront and end at LCU.

Ornament Crafting/December Cooking Demo

When: Dec. 13, 9:30 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Where: Forts Randolph and Buhlow State Historic Site, 135 Riverfront St., Pineville, La

This event will include Ms. Elizabeth Walker’s demonstration of 1800’s campfire cooking techniques alongside Forts Randolph and Buhlow Staff, inviting guests to make their own ornaments in the afternoon.

  • Food served at 12:30 p.m.
  • Ornament making and tea time at 2 p.m.
  • $6 per person

Old Fashioned Christmas Celebration

When: Dec. 13, 4 – 6 p.m.

Where: Kent Plantation House Visitor Center, 3601 Bayou Rapides Rd., Alexandria, La

Visit with Papa Noel while helping decorate the Kent House Christmas tree. Free admission for all ages.

Alexandria Christmas Parade

When: Dec. 14, 2 p.m.

Where: Starts at 1412 Centre Ct. and ends at 800 Ola St.

Kick off the holiday season with the festive Alexandria Christmas Parade. This parade features cheerful holiday floats, enchanting performances and a special appearance by Santa Claus himself as the Grand Marshal.

A Philadelphia Christmas

When: Dec. 20 & 21, 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.

Where: Philadelphia Baptist Church, 2022 Horseshoe Dr., Alexandria, La

Visit with Papa Noel while helping decorate the Kent House Christmas tree. Free admission for all ages.

“A Philadelphia Christmas” features the talents of the Philadelphia Baptist Church worship choir and orchestra, as they worship through song.
