BATON ROUGE – The 5th Annual Love the Boot Week takes place April 18-26, while celebrating America’s 250th birthday. Love the Boot Week is Louisiana’s largest litter cleanup and beautification event held during Earth Month.

The first Love the Boot took place in 2022. Keep Louisiana Beautiful wanted to create an event that empowered every person in every parish to pick up litter and beautify spaces. The first year, 280 events took place. Since then, the initiative has grown into a movement, reaching over 1,400 events in all 64 parishes in 2025.

So far in 2026, as of March 11, there are  850 events registered in all 64 parishes for the 5th Annual Love the Boot Week. With the following parishes leading so far:

  • Orleans
  • East Baton Rouge
  • Ouachita

“We owe this growth to the support of the Lieutenant Governor and all of the schools, businesses, local governments and individuals who want to live in a cleaner, greener Louisiana,” said Executive Director of Keep Louisiana Beautiful Susan Russell.

“Louisiana is one of the most beautiful places in America, from our bayous and state parks to our small towns and big cities. Love the Boot Week is a reminder that keeping it that way takes all of us,” said Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser. “A cleaner Louisiana benefits everyone. It protects our environment, strengthens community pride and helps showcase our state to visitors from around the world. Love the Boot Week is a powerful example of how people across Louisiana can work together to make a real difference.”

Coca-Cola has partnered with Keep Louisiana Beautiful to support the recycling of plastic bottles and aluminum cans at litter cleanup events happening in 19 parishes.

With support from Coca-Cola, Osprey Initiative will facilitate recycling from litter cleanup events in the following parishes: Acadia, Ascension, Calcasieu, East Baton Rouge, Jefferson, Jefferson Davis, Lafayette, Livingston, Orleans, St. Bernard, St. Charles, St. James, St. John, St. Martin, St. Tammany and Tangipahoa.

A recycling drop-off pod will be available to collect #1 plastic bottles and aluminum cans picked up at litter cleanups in the following parishes: Bossier, Ouachita and Rapides.

“Love the Boot Week shows what’s possible when communities come together with a shared commitment to stewardship,” said Vice President of Franchise Leadership at The Coca-Cola Company Colin Schriver. “By making recycling accessible at cleanup events across Louisiana, we’re helping ensure that bottles and cans collected during these efforts have the chance at another life instead of becoming waste.
