Fall Corn Mazes in Louisiana

Don't miss the pumpkin patch and corn maze experience many Louisiana farms have to offer in the fall

Corn mazes are a fun fall feature in Louisiana that I often forget about. When I think of fall, I think of warm colors, lattes, pumpkins, all things pumpkin-flavored, flannel and a slight breeze in the air (usually not coming until mid-to-late October). But, with how quickly fall seems to come and go, I find it hard to enjoy what the season has to offer.

It’s easy to get caught up in the transition from the end of summer to a new school year, the end-of-year push at work, Halloween parties and Thanksgiving Day planning and trips. Before you know it, you’re scrambling to prepare for Christmas, and you’ve missed the opportunity to enjoy fall.

An easy way to avoid this is to plan a Saturday in October or November and visit one of Louisiana’s many corn mazes. Corn mazes are special for a few reasons:

  1. You can partake in many fall activities in one place, from pumpkin patches and flower fields to hayrides and train rides.
  2. Some even offer food and sweet treats, like the apple cider slushie at The Pumpkin Patch at Pecan Row in Natchitoches.
  3. The instant feeling of fall that comes from the beautiful farm scenery decked in pumpkins and scarecrows.

Beyond these highlights, corn mazes are also a good outing for families, friends and couples, no matter the age. Corn mazes typically have a full lineup of kids’ activities, and who doesn’t love competing to find your way out of the maze with friends or your significant other?

Lastly, corn mazes and pumpkin patches are the perfect backdrop for fall family photos, your upcoming Christmas card or the Instagram cover photo for your fall photo “dump.”
