Grand Isle Wins Louisiana Life’s Best Town Award

GRAND ISLE, La – This spring, Louisiana Life Magazine held a contest for Best Town in Louisiana. After months and thousands of votes, Grand Isle won Best Town out of the over 130 towns eligible for the contest.
Readers overwhelmingly recognized Grand Isle’s coastal community at the edge Jefferson Parish with a population of approximately 1,000 residents. Known for its camps, beach, vibrant fishing culture, and welcoming atmosphere, Grand Isle has long been a favorite destination for locals and visitors alike.
A framed declaration was presented to Mayor David Camardelle and the Jefferson Parish Council at their July 23 meeting by Todd Matherne, CEO of Renaissance Publishing. Members of the Louisiana Life Magazine team at the presentation also included digital media editor Kelly Massicot, sales manager Rebecca Taylor, marketing manager Greer Stewart and editor Reine Dugas.
“It was exciting for all of us to follow the contest and to finally discover the winner,” said Dugas. “Grand Isle is such a special place and really represents a part of Louisiana that some people never have the opportunity to see.”
“What you see here [Grand Isle] is a little piece of heaven,” said Tim Kerner Jr., Councilman District 1, after the announcement. “It wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for the people standing up here, fighting with everything they have, to preserve this gem not only for them but for the rest of Louisiana. I urge everyone to take their families here. It’s something you can’t experience anywhere else in the world.”
In addition to being named Best Town by Louisiana Life readers, Grand Isle will be featured in the September 2025 issue of the magazine.
