5th Annual Very Merry Museum 2

BATON ROUGE (press release) – The Louisiana Art & Science Museum’s (LASM)  5th Annual A Very Merry Museumevent on Saturday, Dec. 7, from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., will kick off a new holiday experience for the Baton Rouge community, Coca-Cola Christmas: A Month of Magic at LASM. This inaugural month-long museum-wide celebration of the holidays, sponsored by Baton Rouge Coca-Cola Bottling Company, will feature North Pole inspired Coca-Cola box displays throughout the museum.

To unveil this new holiday destination on Dec. 7, LASM will offer hands-on art and science activities, show holiday-themed planetarium shows, and host a very special holiday guest. The festive day, also sponsored by Baton Rouge Coca-Cola Bottling Company, will feature engaging activities from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., including Sneaux to Geaux science experiments (sponsored by BASF), a museum-wide Polar Passport, and additional activities facilitated by various community partners.

This year, LASM and Baton Rouge Coca-Cola Bottling Company are teaming up to bring the Baton Rouge community a winter wonderland throughout the museum, including The North Pole, Santa’s Workshop, A Christmas Village, and Santa’s Post Office: all entirely created from Coca-Cola boxes. LASM Trustee and Baton Rouge Coca-Cola Sales Operations Manager Lauren Whatley has maintained the ongoing partnership between LASM and Coca-Cola Bottling company and looks forward to this new addition to a holiday favorite. “If you’re looking for a fun, festive, and unique way to celebrate the holidays that includes a little Art & Science lagniappe, A Very Merry Museum will be the perfect event for your family,” states Whatley. “We look forward to sponsoring this event each year, and with the addition of the month-long Coca-Cola Christmas event, we are even more excited to partner with LASM to help make the Baton Rouge community’s holiday season merry and bright.”

The famous Coca-Cola truck will be making an appearance outside of the museum on Dec. 7, and LASM’s guest of honor, Santa Claus, will be available to take pictures with museum visitors as well. There will also be a family-friendly giveaway of Coca-Cola Polar Bears for the first 100 children to arrive that morning, provided by Baton Rouge Coca-Cola Bottling Company.

The Irene W. Pennington Planetarium will offer holiday-themed shows from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., including Let It Snow and The Star of Bethlehem. Visitors are also welcome to stop by the LASM Museum Store to purchase a gift to share with those in need and for those last-minute holiday gifts and stocking stuffers. All planetarium shows and museum activities, including photos with Santa, are free to LASM members and included in general admission.
