Louisiana’s Kristen Nuss and Taryn Kloth Lock Up No. 2 Seed for Women’s Beach Volleyball at Paris 2024 Olympics
ESPINHO, Portugal (press release) – TKN Beach Volleyball brought home the gold medal and secured an important victory resulting in locking up the No. 2 seed at the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympics. The team of Taryn Kloth and Kristen Nuss, two of top female stars in the world of beach volleyball, battled strong winds and less than optimal playing conditions at the tournament held in Espinho, Portugal, to clinch the top spot on the medal stand at a tournament that saw one of the strongest fields of the 2024 Elite16 season.
Louisiana residents Kloth and Nuss, representing the United States, are celebrating their sixth gold on the Elite 16 tour and their first of the 2024 season. The formidable duo is coming off of silver medal finishes in their last two tournaments – the AVP Huntington Beach Open and the Brasilia Elite 16. TKN Beach Volleyball is gearing up for the 2024 Paris Olympics where they will represent Team USA and is one of the top medal contenders going into the Olympic Games.
Facing off against elite competitors from around the world, Kloth and Nuss demonstrated their prowess, showcasing a dynamic blend of skill, strategy, and determination. The journey to the medal stand included beating the no. 1 ranked team of Ana Patricia/Duda from Brazil in the Quarterfinals. Their stellar performance all weekend earned them a well-deserved spot in the championship match, where they battled fiercely against a Swiss team for the title.
Kloth and Nuss battled six match points from their opponents in the second set to post a 2-1 (17-21, 28-26, 15-10) victory over Nina Brunner and Tanja Huberli.
“This is absolutely unreal,” Nuss told Volleyball World after the match. “It was such a battle. I think we go to three every single time against that Swiss team, they’re phenomenal athletes. It was pretty fun to just battle in this wind. The stadium was packed for the finals and for us athletes, it means a lot to play in this atmosphere.”
