New Mac Ball Exhibition at Cole Pratt Gallery

NEW ORLEANS (press release) – Cole Pratt Gallery has a new exhibition by Mac Ball, an artist whose work bridges architecture, painting and material investigation.
“Travel makes us take chances,” said Ball. “We get to play a character in a story. Better, it gives us stories to tell, and stories are what we live for. Stories tie the past and future together, providing continuity from one generation to another.”
The exhibition, “Stories of Here and There,” presents recent works that reflect Ball’s travels in 2025 and the stories that have shaped his paintings, which are rigorously composed and deeply rooted in place.
When: Jan. 2 – Feb. 21
Where: Cole Pratt Gallery, 3800 Magazine St., New Orleans, La, 70115
About Mac Ball
Trained as an architect at Yale University and long recognized for his leadership as a principal of Waggonner & Ball Architects, Ball brings an architect’s sensibility to his studio practice.
His paintings are shaped by a deep understanding of structure, light, materiality and site — concerns that parallel his celebrated architectural career while operating with the poetic freedom of fine art.
Color, surface and compositional restraint converge in works that evoke waterways, landscapes and the quiet geometries of lived environments. Ball’s fine art practice has been exhibited widely throughout the South.
In addition to his architectural honors — including his firm’s more than 70 AIA awards — he served two terms on the board of the New Orleans Museum of Art and played a key role in the development of the New Orleans Center for the Creative Arts (NOCCA).
