Northwest Louisiana Walk of Starts Holds Induction

SHREVEPORT, La (press release) – The Northwest Louisiana Walk of Stars (WAS) is teaming with the Red River Revel Arts Festival (RRRA) for its next induction on Wednesday, Oct. 5, at 3 p.m. Five honorees will be posthumously inducted on the depot stage at the RRRA Festival.
This year’s inductees are radio announcer and singer/song-writer/music producer Nat Stuckey; internationally-acclaimed classical pianist Van Cliburn; ground-breaking architects Samuel G. and William B. Wiener; and fashion designer Geoffrey Beene.
“This will be the largest induction we’ve ever had,” said WAS President John Lieberman.
Prior to 2022, the Walk’s largest induction was in 2004 with Hank Williams, Hank Jr. and Merle Kilgore.
“We are grateful to Revel director Logan Lewis for allowing us to hold this event during the Revel,” said Lieberman. “The festival is an established, well-attended event and will allow us the opportunity to expose the amazing talent that has influenced Northwest Louisiana.”
The Walk of Stars was created in 1997 to recognize and honor those from the region who have made an impact in their chosen profession. The honor is given to selected individuals who are distinguished in their professional and/or civic endeavors or who have brought recognition and attention to the area, and who have been involved in those activities for at least five years. The honorees may come from any profession or industry including, but not limited to, athletics, music, acting, business, politics, education and community service.
The Walk of Stars began as a committee of the Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce. Since 2016, it has been an independent 501(c)3 organization. To date, 32 individuals and one group have been inducted. The Walk of Stars is located in the Red River Entertainment District, under the Texas Street Bridge in downtown Shreveport, and is open to the public free of charge 24 hours a day. It is supported entirely by public contributions and corporate sponsorships.
