Red River Revel in Shreveport and More
The 50th annual Red River Revel (October 8-11, 15-18) kicks off with an epic drone and fireworks show. Shreveport’s multi-arts festival showcases a creative kids zone and 200 visual and performing artists on multiple stages featuring headliners such as Better Than Ezra, Cowboy Mouth and Flow Tribe.
New Orleans | Bringing the World to New Orleans
Some of the world’s most celebrated bars will transform a French Quarter venue into an extension of their own establishments when New Orleans’ Jewel of the South launches The Cocktail Hour in October. Inaugural collaborators for each new residency include The Dead Rabbit (New York City), Panda & Sons (Edinburgh), Brujas (Mexico City) and Bar Leone (Hong Kong). The Cocktail Hour’s seasonal collaborations extend through June 2027.

Lafayette | Unprecedented Alliance
The Acadiana Symphony Orchestra (ASO) and the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra (LPO) have announced a three-year strategic partnership, anchored by the hiring of acclaimed music director Matthew Kraemer (principal conductor of LPO), as ASO’s new artistic advisor. ASO’s season opener, “America at 250” (October 1), features Gold Medalist Zhu Wang performing Gershwin’s iconic “Rhapsody in Blue.”
Around the State | Of Hauntings and Halloween
Northeast Louisiana’s largest haunted venue, Evil Visions Haunted House, opens its 2026 season with new scares and props, expanded space, new experiences and 30-40 actors (plus security) on a larger 20-acre site in downtown Monroe (September-October). Two terrifying haunted houses (including Alice’s 3D madhouse) and a buried-alive simulator are staged in Natchitoches’ Dark Woods in Timber Ridge (October). A new electronic music and dance festival, Freaky Deaky Nola, debuts Halloween weekend at New Orleans’ Mardi Gras World (October 30-31).
