Fall Staycation: The Roosevelt Cabana Package in New Orleans

Last month for the rooftop pool and cabana package at The Roosevelt

The Roosevelt Cabana Retreat Package - Cabanas

I find that occasionally there is a misconception about New Orleans and the level of sophistication it may bring when it comes to recreation, restoration and revelry.

No, to all those who assume New Orleans is not just Bourbon Street and the smell and linger of fraternity boys looking to forget their night out in the Big Easy. From dining to entertainment, there are Michelin Star restaurants, award-winning spa experiences and hotels and shopping options that rival even the largest of international cities. New Orleans is a place to come for fun, but also for luxury.

While it doesn’t take much to impress me, there are a few hotels around the city that offer not only a chic moment for those visiting the city, but also opportunities for locals to play hooky or tourist in their own backyard.

An Escape at The Roosevelt

The Roosevelt Hotel has the same history and magic that lives in every inch of New Orleans. The Sazerac Bar is consistently rated one of the best bars in the city, as well as the famous setup the hotel dons for the Christmas holidays, which people travel from all over to take an Instagram-worthy photo among the lights.

Recently, I had my own luxury experience at The Roosevelt that I wasn’t even aware was an option. I was invited to try the hotel’s Cabana Retreat Package.

You might think, “Kelly, it’s literally October, already fall. Why would I be interested in a cabana moment?” But you would be mistaken.

  1. A cabana option is always something you want to have in your back pocket.
  2. A cabana option at The Roosevelt is something everyone should put on their radar.
  3. October in New Orleans brings the perfect weather for a rooftop pool experience: the weather is a little less hot but not too cool yet.

Note: October is the last open month for the pool in 2026. It opens again in March 2027.

The Rooftop Pool and Cabana Experience

The Roosevelt rooftop pool view

I won’t lie, I forgot that The Roosevelt actually had a pool. The pool is typically something accessed by only guests staying at the hotel, or those who have purchased a day pass.

And while it’s technically a rooftop pool, you’re not at the very top of the hotel. You’re situated amongst the buildings of the Central Business District. While this might not sound relaxing, there was something very chic about being beside a pool as everyone in the buildings around you is seemingly working,

While the chairs around the pool are perfect enough for a day, the cabanas were another luxury I don’t think I can come back from.

I love this experience for a couple of different groups. First, use it as an addition to your staycation for you and your partner to indulge. Another is the bachelor or bachelorette group. Minus the months that do actually see cold weather, the cabana package options give a group a little seclusion, a place to set down all of your pool items and the Luxury Cabana experience offers bubbly and a snack plate.

When I wasn’t thinking about the work I had to finish, the chairs, the service, the food and the atmosphere were all perfect.
