New One-of-a-Kind Neuroscience Institute Coming to Louisiana

Debra H. and Robert J. Patrick Neuroscience Institute anticipated to be the only of its kind between Houston and Atlanta.

NEW ORLEANS (press release) – Scheduled to open in late 2026, The Debra H. and Robert J. Patrick Neuroscience Institute is a 132,000- square-foot facility that will bring Ochsner Health’s neuroscience programs under one roof. 

The $120 million investment into the Debra H. and Robert J. Patrick Neuroscience Institute will enable Ochsner to serve more patients in the region and establish a destination for comprehensive neurological care by integrating outpatient services, behavioral health and rehabilitation in one location. 

Organizers say the facility is a one-of-a-kind neuroscience institute, the only one of its kind between Houston and Atlanta.

The Debra H. and Robert J. Patrick Neuroscience Institute is made possible through the remarkable generosity of the community, anchored by a transformational gift from Debra H. and Robert J. Patrick and strengthened by the collective support and dedication of donors.

First Floor: Innovation and Rehabilitation

• Suquet Family Therapy and Wellness Center: A rehab space with board-certified physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech-language pathologists who specialize in the treatment of neurologic disorders.
• Parker Family BioDesign Lab: An embedded innovation studio where clinicians, engineers, designers, entrepreneurs and industry partners collaborate to rapidly translate ideas into real-world neurological solutions. Leveraging augmented, virtual, and mixed reality alongside medical 3D printing, the lab will support patient care, medical education and care delivery innovation within a live clinical environment.
• Gait Lab: Features motion-capture and analysis technology to diagnose and treat walking and movement challenges, helping restore confidence and independence.
• Billy’s Place Integrative Therapies: Offers unique integrative therapies, such as music therapy, yoga and creative writing to address the needs of patients and caregivers. 
• Team Gleason Assistive Technology Lab: Developed in partnership with Team Gleason, this lab provides life-changing assistive technology for individuals living with ALS and other neurological conditions. Patients and families can access communication aids, mobility solutions and environmental controls.

Second Floor: Behavioral Health

• Behavioral Health: Outpatient and group therapy services, closely aligned with neurology.
• Labs: On-site laboratory services for convenience and support.

Third Floor: Sub-Specialty Multidisciplinary Neurology Clinics

• Neurology Clinics: Dedicated clinic spaces for epilepsy, cognitive and memory care, multiple sclerosis, neuropsychology, neuromuscular disorders and neuro-ophthalmology.
• Infusion Center: Designed for comfort and easy access.
• Neurodiagnostics: Advanced testing where it’s needed most.
• Specialty Centers: Including the Desi Roth Harrison Center for MS and the Dathel and Tommy Coleman Brain Health Center.

Fourth Floor: Neurosurgery and Advanced Care

• Neurosurgery: Clinic space and offices for experts and surgical care teams.
• Specialty Centers: Includes the McCausland Family Headache Center, the Joy and Boysie Bollinger Advanced Spine Center and vascular neurology.
• Movement Disorders: Coordinated care for Parkinson’s and related conditions.
