Sonic Supports the Tangipahoa Parish School System
Since 2009, Sonic has donated more than $30 million to fund local classrooms in the U.S.
HAMMOND, La. (press release) – The Sonic Foundation partnered with local franchise group Pray Sonic to help bring nationally recognized educator Ron Clark to nearly 3,000 teachers, administrators and school staff in the Tangipahoa Parish School System.
As part of its mission to support public school education, the Sonic Foundation, with Pray Sonic, brought Ron Clark to the district’s annual “Start Strong. Finish Strong.” Back-to-School Rally on Aug. 4 at Southeastern Louisiana University Center.
Organizers share that the districtwide professional development event allowed educators to experience Ron Clark’s renowned teaching philosophy and high-impact instructional strategies right in their own community.
“We’re proud to invest in the people shaping the next generation,” said Stuart Brown, executive director of the Sonic Foundation. “Bringing Ron Clark to Tangipahoa Parish was an opportunity to celebrate local educators, inspire them ahead of the new school year and thank them for everything they do for their students.”

Earlier this year, the Sonic Foundation funded the participation of 18 Tangipahoa Parish educators in the immersive two-day Ron Clark Academy (RCA) Experience in Atlanta, where they learned innovative classroom strategies to strengthen student engagement, foster positive classroom culture and improve academic achievement.
Inspired by the program’s success, the Tangipahoa Parish School System wanted to bring Ron Clark’s renowned training to educators across the entire district and beyond before the new school year.
“The enthusiasm and new ideas our educators brought back from the Ron Clark Academy made it clear that we wanted to share this experience with as many members of our team as possible,” said Melissa Stilley, superintendent of Tangipahoa Parish School System. “Thanks to Pray Sonic and the Sonic Foundation, nearly every educator in our district had the opportunity to hear Ron Clark’s message, learn from his approach and begin the school year feeling inspired and ready to make a difference for students.”
Organizers share that the Ron Clark event is just one example of the Sonic Foundation’s ongoing commitment to supporting educators and strengthening public education. Every time guests purchase a Sonic Drink, Slush, Blast or Shake, the brand donates a portion of proceeds to the Sonic Foundation, which supports public education through Limeades for Learning.
