ST. FRANCISVILLE, La. – From June 1 to July 31, Louisiana Life Magazine held its second annual Best Town Contest, allowing readers to vote online for their favorite town.

After a two month campaign and over 1,000 votes, readers declared St. Francisville the 2026 Louisiana Life Best Town.

Oak Grove and Jean Lafitte held strong positions early in the competition, but in the end, St. Francisville was victorious, receiving 33.6% of the total votes.

“St. Francisville is such a lovely town and the perfect weekend trip from so many places in Louisiana,” said Louisiana Life Editor Reine Dugas. “We were so excited to see all of the votes for this contest. It shows just how passionate our readers are for their hometowns.”

Located just 26 miles north of Baton Rouge, St. Francisville is a quaint town known for its charm, natural beauty and history.

To recognize the winning town, Renaissance Publishing CEO Todd Matherne and members of the Louisiana Life team presented a framed declaration to Mayor Andrew D’Aquilla at their town hall meeting on Tuesday, Sep. 8.

“We are delighted to present this achievement to a town with such a strong sense of community,” said Matherne. “The Louisiana Life Best Town Contest allows us and our readers to explore more of the small towns that make our state so unique, and St. Francisville is the perfect representation of that Louisiana small-town charm.”

“The Town of St. Francisville is truly grateful and honored to accept the Louisiana Life Magazine 2026 Best Town in Louisiana award,” said Mayor D’Aquilla. “An award such as this does not belong to any one person or any one administration. It belongs to an entire community. This recognition belongs to all of us.”

“We love it here, and we are honored that others see what we have always known: St. Francisville is truly a special place,” said Mayor D’Aquilla.
