The Inside Slice: King Cake Festival + Free Ticket Fridays
THIBODAUX, La (press release) – The Louisiana King Cake Festival, presented by the Lorio Foundation, will return for its fourth annual celebration on Saturday, Jan. 31.
Happening in Downtown Thibodaux, the Louisiana King Cake Festival will showcase food from local vendors, live music by bands Snapper and the Fishsticks and Bang Bang, family activities, king cake tastings and a king cake competition.
The festival will offer a new online voting system, provided in partnership with King Cake Snob, for the People’s Choice King Cake Award.
Additionally, a panel of judges will crown winners in four king cake categories and the Overall Best of Show winner.
When: Saturday, Jan. 31, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Where: 201 Green Street, Thibodaux, La 70301
Tickets: $5 – $108.55, available online. General admission and VIP wristband packets are available for pickup prior to the festival. Pickup locations will be announced on Facebook.
Louisiana King Cake Festival Schedule
- 10:30 a.m., Krewe of King Cake Children’s Wagon Parade
- 11 a.m., gates open to the public
- 11:10 a.m., royalty second line through the festival
- 11:30 a.m., Bang Bang performs
- 2 p.m., Color Contest and parade winners announced
- 2:30 p.m., Snapper and the Fishsticks
- 4 p.m., all king cake awards announced
- 5 p.m., after party hosted by Big Mike’s BBQ
Free Ticket Fridays
The past three Fridays, the Louisiana King Cake Festival has held a Free Ticket Friday giveaway on Facebook, offering one lucky winner a free ticket to the fest.

The Louisiana King Cake Festival is the Lafourche Education Foundation’s biggest fundraising event of the year, with all of the festival proceeds directly supporting local teachers and students through classroom grants and education initiatives.
One initiative is the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, which, in conjunction with the Thibodaux Regional Health System, provides books to children from birth to age five.
